It’s been a long time since I last spoke about “The Golden Buy/Write” but I couldn’t help but notice this one today. The term “Golden Buy/Write” is something that I came up with years ago while I was doing a seminar in Stockholm. The investors there wanted to know if there was a way that that they could lock in dividends in their US stock accounts while still having protection should the market drop in value.
My answer was to sell deep in-the-money, long-term calls against their stock positions. It’s a variation of the common “Covered Call” strategy, and it’s very simple to do.
